| Early's Carpet, Inc. was founded by John and Lorraine Early in 1966. Business was conducted from the basement office of their home in Amissville. 2013 marked the store's 47th anniversary. In the mid 60's only two furniture stores and one construction business provided carpet to the area and that was introduced to this rural area because there were no trained installers. John, having 12 years experience, ventured into business with his wife, Lorraine, servicing Rappahannock, Fauquier and Culpeper counties, where they grew up. In 1969, the Earlys built a store next door to their home and by 1971 a warehouse was added to the back. The addition expanded the store from 3,200 sf to 11,400 sf. The huge facility now houses the stock flooring, an automatic Oriental rack that holds over 400 rugs, a large cutting machine and hundreds of remnants. Later the store became the "One-Stop Shop for All Your Home Decorating Needs", with the exception of wallpaper and paint, which was deleted in the late 70's. Lorraine and the sales staff helped customers with their decorating selections, custom window treatments, blinds, shades, shutters, bedspreads, slip-covers and re-upholstery of furniture. Everything was coordinated in one store. It is still that way today! We are a company that is quality driven, customer service oriented, dedicated to providing our customers with the best values possible and the very best in craftsmanship. A family operated business for over 45 years with 3 members helping to carry forward; son, Michael is in sales, daughter, Sonja, is in sales and her husband, Solon Betts, is in installations. There have been countless advancements in technology over the last 40 years. Early's Carpet, Inc. is proud of the product knowledge that comes with 40 years in the flooring business. The company is unique because it has available "In Stock" everything you need in floor coverings.
